Balto

In Loving Memory of Balto
November 16, 2009 – April 5, 2025

Balto came into our lives in 2010 when he wandered up to my parents’ house near a nature park. We tried taking him to three shelters, but none could accept him—so he stayed, living on their land with another dog until 2017. When that dog passed, I brought Balto home with me. He was already house trained, remembered commands, and fit right into indoor life like he’d always been meant for it.

His name, Balto, came from his original microchip record from 2009. Soon after moving in with me, he was diagnosed with heartworms, but he beat them—and from there, he thrived. We took road trips, ate pup cups and ice cream, and shared so many adventures. He was calm, loyal, and truly the best companion.

He stood by me through my cancer diagnosis and every part of treatment, always by my side when I needed him most. Last year, he joined the STAY trial, and I believe it gave us more time—a gift I’ll always be grateful for.

On April 5, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him, Balto peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge. He lived a life full of love, loyalty, and purpose. I miss him deeply and will always be thankful for the years we had together.

Thank you, Balto. You were everything!
